with Steve

“If today were the last day of your life, would you be doing what you want to do today?”

They say,

Desire is the starting point of all achievement. Lets assume, people having credibility on you is the highest form of achievement. But have you questioned yourself what your desire is?

“Today we are launching a 12GB memory card for cell phones and it has 50 billion transistors. Enough memory to listen to music while travelling to moon and...Back!”
-says a man, who redefined presentation.

After listening to such presentation, how many of you will not want to buy an apple product? Every one of us wants an apple product or in other words a product which came from Steve jobs. So what made us have such high credibility on Jobs or in other words how did Jobs achieve it so big. Let’s figure that out,

After high school, Steve joined Reeds University in Portland, within 6 months he dropped out. He spent the next 18 months in creativity, in other words he spent time to figure out what he actually wants to do. How many of us here, would give up something which gives us money, laurels and so on because we don't like it? Steve did!

Apple Inc was started in Steve’s family garage and now it’s a 500 billion $ company. Steve’s desire was not 500 billion $ but his desire was to build computers and to write programs. So, how many of our desire is to work for our desire rather than to earn money?

In 1985 Steve resigned as the CEO of Apple Inc and started his own hardware and software company called Next Inc. Being chased out of a company which he built and then again he had the strength to build another. How many of us would get up from mocking of a person, who is no where related in our life? Steve got back on the field even after being chased out from his own company, this was because he had a desire, desire to build his own computers and to write software.

Was Steve an extraordinary person? No, Steve Jobs was an ordinary person who did extraordinary things, someone who chased his desire and when someone chases their desire with passion, they earn credibility from people. And they say, earning credibility is the highest form of achievement.

Now, lets get back to our first question:

“If today were the last day of your life, would you be doing what you want to do today?”

Jobs died while he was working for his desire, there is nothing better one could do than to live/work for his desire on the very last day. Think, if you are living or working towards your desire and if the answer is No...keep searching for your desire because "for all matters of heart, you will know when you find it."

  1. Steve Jobs' mission in life could be seen in the products Apple launched of the movies Pixar created. Quality and human values were always at the center of everything. One of Steve's biggest legacy is his 2005 Stanford Commencement Address - truly inspiring words of wisdom.
